This is going to be as ** Spoiler Free **  as I possibly can because of reasons.

I went into the movie maybe watching a single trailer and I have stayed away from anything spoilery. This was the best way to experience this film and I will keep this as spoiler free as I can because everyone deserves to experience this movie like I did. I’m serious. 

I LOOOOOVED this movie so much. I laughed. I cried. I laughed so hard, that I cried (and I’m sure vice versa). There was so much heart to this movie and yet it wasn’t over the top.

Movie Review: The Aftermath

Set in Post-WWII Germany The Aftermath is a movie about grieving families amongst a city attempting to rebuild . We meet Rachael Morgan (Kiera Knightly) and her husband Lewis Morgan (Jason Clarke) as they settle into their new home in Hamburg, Germany. Lewis is an officer in the British army and as such is given use of a house for him and his wife.  The former home’s occupiants being Stephen Lubert (Alexander Skarsgard) and his teenage daugher Freda (Flora Thiemann) who are invited to stay on till they are cleared to move wherever they wish. Lewis is often called away on assignment leaving his Rachael and Lubert much time to get to know each other.

Movie Review: Captain Marvel

I’m going to try and be completely unbiased in the following review. Oh. Who am I kidding? I wanted this movie to be amazing. I went into this movie knowing I was going to love it. I have hyped this movie to everyone I know.  And I’m not going to lie, it has taken Marvel much too long for them to finally have a female led movie. To be fair*, they did bring us Agent Carter, but they took her away from us far too soon.

So. Unbiased? Probably not, but I’ll be as honest as I can. I loved this movie. This is also the part where I pledge my undying love for Carol Danvers.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald

If you are a surface fan of Harry Potter its likely you may not see as many issues as I did. Of course, there are issues with the plot that have nothing to do with Harry Potter canon so… maybe not?

I don’t regret watching it. It was a fun way to spend a cold Sunday afternoon, but I’m not going to lie I had some issues.

TV Review: The Haunting of Hill House

The  Haunting of Hill House

Very loosely based on the novel by Shirley Jackson of the same name The Haunting of Hill House is at its heart a family drama disguised as a ghost story.

This shouldn’t be a spoiler, but Hill House is haunted. It is very very haunted. Yet, this is a different story than the one you may be familiar with. The original story is about a group of strangers who meet up for a supernatural experiment within this notoriously haunted home.  You may have even seen the 1963 classic titled The Haunting or even the 1999 film (though the 1999 was not so well received). This new Netflix original series, however, takes the story in a very different direction. Yet, I would say that this adaptation captures the essences of  Jackson’s gothic horror novel better than any of the adaptations that came before it.

Not all Halloween Classics need to make you reach for the night lights. In the vein of Casper, Hocus Pocus, and Halloweentown (1 – 3 of course. Who do you take me for?), The Curious Creations of Christine McConnell bring some light-hearted fun and quirky cryptids over for coffee and cake.  Do you enjoy episodes of The Great British Bake Off, the muppets, and macabre humor? Well this is the show for you.

Christine McConnell, runs a sort of foster home for the strange and unusual.  Not only can she bake a replica of her home out of chocolate cake, keep a murderous reanimated raccoon in check, but also sew a new evening gown all before her date arrives for a home-cooked dinner. Her date with perhaps a serial killer, but those kinds of silly things aren’t deal breakers for this accomplished woman.

Film Review: Hotel Artemis

EDIT: Oooops, this was scheduled to post almost three months ago. Sorry guys, but posting it now. 

I enjoyed this film. It was a unique little tale about one night among many in the lives of a group of strangers.  This was just one story in a city full of stories and only but a glimpse of the happenings of Hotel Artemis.

This film had such a wonderful look to it and way about everything it chose to do.  However, where this film really shined was through the performances of the actors. There’s not enough great things I can say about everyone in this film.
